Gonzalo Pita specializes in natural catastrophe risk modeling, complex system interactions (natural and government), disaster risk finance, and the design of risk mitigation policies and government strategies. His work bridges research and practice, with projects spanning dozens of countries—including the United States, Argentina, the Caribbean, Central America, the Philippines, and Brazil. He is a senior specialist for the World Bank and has contributed to the Florida Public Hurricane Loss Model. Gonzalo also teaches two graduate-level courses: Natural Disaster Risk Modeling and System Dynamics.
